HIV & AIDS Awareness
HIV & AIDS continues to be a challenge in the African American community. Our goal is to use BLUE EYE SHADOW as a tool increase awareness of HIV & AIDS and it's impact on our community.
Our award-winning short film BLUE EYE SHADOW was screened during the symposium HIV THEN AND NOW – SEX, LIES & HIV in Dallas, TX. Varner PR, in partnership with the Dallas-Fort Worth Association of Black Journalists and the Dallas County Health and Human Services Department held the symposium on November 16th, 2024. The symposium was sponsored by GILEAD SCIENCES. Journalists, health professionals, and members of the community convened to have an open and frank discussion about the high rates of new HIV infections for African Americans in the Southern United States.

Varner PR, in partnership with The Jackson Association of Black Journalists, The Jackson Advocate Newspaper and the Mississippi State Department of Health held the impactful symposium on October 26th, 2024. The event was sponsored by GILEAD SCIENCES and held at the HBCU Tougaloo College. The purpose was to gather journalists, community advocates, public health professionals, and students to have an open and frank dialogue to address the high rate of new HIV infections for African Americans in the Southern United States. Our film continues to be used as a tool to highlight the problem of HIV in our community.
